After that, the damaged surface layer of the skin dies and peels off Stevens-Johnson syndrome requires urgent hospitalization The goal of treatment is to eliminate the underlying cause, control symptoms, and minimize complications Stevens-Johnson syndrome takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to heal, depending on the severity of the condition. If Stevens-Johnson syndrome is caused by medication, you will need to stay off that medication and similar medications for the rest of your life.
